Bagels and Pancakes and Waffles - OH MY!

Having our wedding at 10 a.m. in the morning has raised many questions from people and even a few eyebrows. Dan and I decided that would be the perfect time for us to get married for several reasons.

First, we LOVE LOVE LOVE breakfast and brunch food. When we started talking about all the yummies we could serve the question then became – who wouldn’t want a brunch reception? I think now the problem we are going to run in to is deciding which foods to eliminate. For example, do we go with both pancakes and waffles or choose just one. My mind and budget says to just choose one, but people have strong opinions as to which side they fall in regards to the pancake or waffle debate. It is almost as heated as the Bingo Bill debate in the Alabama legislature right now. However, I digress. So, if any of you have any GREAT ideas and/or additions for brunch food – please feel free to comment on those. The Mouse (i.e. Disney) does provide some set menus, and they all look so delicious it really is going to be hard to narrow our choices down. I look forward to spending time contemplating the food. It is a tough task, but someone’s got to do it. Maybe I can talk Dan in to cooking and letting me be the taste tester … I’ll let you know how that one goes.

Our second reason for the 10 a.m. time is that we would feel just horrible if our guests did not get a chance to experience the magical and wonderfulness that is The Mouse theme park and one of our favorite places. In our opinion, it would just be completely self-centered to bring our family and friends down there just to tease them with the idea of having a vacation and going to the parks. By the time our wedding is over, there will still be plenty of day for our guests to enjoy the park for a good part of the day on Friday and all day on Saturday. This makes us happy, and we hope it will make our guests happy too.

Finally, when it got right down to it I personally do not want to wait until 6 p.m. at night to see Dan on our wedding day. The day is about signifying our love, us being together and us making a commitment to each other. So why should we spend the majority of the day apart? I am excited that on our most special day that I will get to spend most of it with him.

In other news, I have booked and confirmed our photographer. First off, she and her husband are just TONS of fun to be around. Dan and I met and got to know Julia and Max when our friends Jessica and Jeremy Cozart got married in August 2008. Couple that with the fact that she takes THE MOST amazing, exquisite, fantastic, magical and truly delicious wedding photos I have ever seen left me so wanting her to take our photos. Her name is Julia Bailey and her website is www.juliabailey.com. I dare you to look and not fall in love with at least a dozen or so photos. Since Jess’s wedding in 2008, I would oftentimes find myself going to Julia’s website just to view what new work she had placed on her site. I found myself falling in love with the photos and the people in them, even though I had NO clue who any of them were. Dan and I feel fortunate that she and her husband Max are going to capture our special day.

Okay, off to bed. This bride has an appointment at the gym at 5 a.m.
